This year, we celebrate the art of Nizō Yamamoto. From 6 June, two new solegraph editions of his background art for Princess Mononoke will be on view and our new book Nizō Yamamoto: Art for Animation is available for pre-order.

Nizō Yamamoto (1953–2023) was one of the defining art directors in Japanese animation and a pioneering figure in the development of anime background art. As the first English-language book dedicated to his art, this volume brings together background paintings, image boards, and rare production materials.
